Fences constructed or significantly altered in excess of seven (7) feet in height are required to comply with the requirements of the Massachusetts State Building Code, as well as applicable Town Zoning Requirements.
Fences constructed or altered that will be seven (7) feet or less above grade are NOT required to obtain a building permit. However, it is required that a 200 foot line of sight be maintained at curb cuts (at the end of driveways). It is also suggested that adequate room is available to maintain the outside face of the fence without infringing on the adjacent property.
